Took an actual vacation this time.. no conventions, no meetings, no event planning! I went to Aruba for NYE with a handful of friends and we rented a magnificent house on the island. Our pool had a waterfall and our palm trees all had coconuts. All the fireworks were legal, and we bought stuff that you'd see in a local town fireworks show. Our neighbors had even crazier stuff, and from our lake in the back you could see all the big hotel shows from all over the island. I spent one night making a local Aruban food called Keshi Yena, which was meat filled in an empty gouda rind. Also went snorkeling in the deep ocean for the first time from a party boat, over a sunken WWII ship called the Antilles. After that, we had amazing italian seafood dishes at a fancy resteraunt with a sunset ocean view. The entire trip was pretty fantastic. I liked the island enough to consider retiring there someday.
